During her time in Africa, Katie will be traveling to projects in Kenya, Mozambique, and Zambia. To learn more about the projects she will visit, please click on the project links. To make a donation, click here.
• Kenya: Katie will be working with a co-op of women in the rural Thika community. By providing land and agricultural opportunities, the program provides greater economic opportunities to families as well as provides produce to the Ngungugu Primary In-School Lunch Program.
• Mozambique: While traveling in Maputo, Katie will spend time with Reencontro, a grassroots partner that AMF works with to help improve the lives of over 7,000 children orphaned by AIDS. She will also be helping to continue the development of the Solar Oven Microcredit project created by Law & Order Producer Neal Baer.
• Zambia: Katie will spend time with the Small Loans Association located in the city of Kabwe. She will be observing the small enterprises built from small loans given through the program and the support given to the vulnerable people of the community.
Up until December 2008, Katie was Executive Vice President, Drama
Programming, NBC Entertainment, where she oversaw all aspects of drama
development as well as current drama programming for NBC. In November
2008, Katie was identified by Jeff Zucker as a key leader and
participated in a leadership symposium along with 20 other colleagues.
She started at NBC overseeing the NY development office where she
oversaw the pilot development of “30 Rock” and “Lipstick Jungle”. She
was promoted to head of drama development in May, 2007. Prior to NBC,
she worked at Imagine Television overseeing, among other series, the
Emmy award winning show “arrested development”.
It’s incredible what even a small amount of money can do to transform the lives of so many people, AMF appreciates any help you can give. To support Katie and the projects she will be visiting, please click here or go directly to the donation page of the project you wish to fund.
