Working with the UCLA Program in Global Health, the project is committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders in health care and public health in Mozambique. AMF funded a team of 8 doctors to travel to Maputo and Nampula to help facilitate curriculum development, subspecialty medical training, and to support medical education through computer-based training for the medical schools. The program will train Mozambican clinical officers and medical students in primary care and subspecialty fields.

The goals of the program are:
To create training opportunities for individuals within Mozambique who will assume leadership roles in medicine, public health, and research
To provide short-term clinical experiences for medical students and physicians-in-training from the United States, and to inspire and cultivate the next generation of U.S. leaders in international health and HIV/AIDS
To provide opportunities for U.S. based physicians and medical school faculty members to contribute their services, specifically by sharing technical skills or areas of expertise that may be lacking in the area
To build this program into a self-sustaining operation that continues to expand to other resource-poor countries around the world.
